Kim Kight spent her undergraduate years at the University of California at Santa Cruz studying Linguistics. She moved to Austin to attend graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin, also in Linguistics. Realizing that options for careers in linguistics outside of academia were limited, she sought an applied area in which her interest in neurolinguistics (the study of how language is represented in
the brain) could be utilized. That led her to a second Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, also from the University of Texas at Austin. Before coming to Kidtherapy, she served schoolchildren from grades pre-K through 12 at the Hays-Blanco Special Education Co-op. She is particularly interested in grammatical disorders, specific language impairment (SLI), and social thinking/communication disorders. She has one toddler son.
